August, 2009 – The album speaks of a sense of place and characters such as the transient blues poet in “Fiona Go Home” or the lovestruck patron in “New Bartender.” The songs are designed, says Chas, to take the listener on a journey through the “Little City” with long musical passages and colorful imagery.
Guitarist Chris Corrigan and violinist Sean Kemp weave their way through the songs with lyricism and depth. Sean Ferris plays throughout the album on Wurlitzer piano and Hammond organ and is joined by Alan Olha on piano for two tracks. Thomas Webb adds some pedal steel to three tracks, Ross MacDonald plays acoustic bass on two tracks and Chris Gauthier plays acoustic guitar on two tracks. The drumming is shared by Alyssa Falk, Dale DesRoches and Romano Dillalo. Vocalists on the record include Catherine O’Brien, Bonnie Leclair, Catherine MacLellan, Mike Mooney and Chris Corrigan.
The recording was done by Jon Matthews at Big Grey Studios in Charlottetown. The mixing was done by Mike Shepherd at Lakewind Sound in Cape Breton, NS and the mastering at Ventura Digital in Montreal.
